All about me

Hello and welcome!
As you may have guessed, my name is Lucie. Chief doodler behind Lucie Cooke Studio. Freelance designer and illustrator by trade, also wife, mama, cat lady, pattern obsessive, flower lover and coffee addict (especially when in an espresso martini).
I have been a designer since leaving Uni in 2009 and have a wide range of experience in fashion, from lingerie, swimwear and nightwear design, to babywear and prints. I went freelance in 2016 and since then I have been able to say yes to an even wider range of design projects. I love the ever changing freelance life!
I started Lucie Cooke Studio in May 2018 and began selling a selection of cards. Having always worked for a client, I wanted to create for myself, in my own style. The range grew to include badges, notebooks, tea towels, aprons and prints. At the start of 2020 I decided to focus the range on prints and bespoke illustrations and a few months later I rebranded from Lucie Cooke Illustration to Lucie Cooke Studio. I realised I had developed a strong identity with my illustration style, which had grown from selling cards at craft fairs into freelance commissions, brand collaborations and children's book illustration. So the name needed to be bigger to reflect this.
I hand draw everything, the old fashioned way, with pen and paper. And I am proud of that! I tried to get to grips with digital drawing on an iPad but it just wasn't for me. I like my lines a little bit wonky and rough around the edges. It adds character! Once the outlines have been drawn in ink, they are digitised and coloured up digitally in my signature super bright colour palette.
My little boy B has definitely had an influence on my work, with the majority of prints being aimed at children and often with a secretly educational side. His room is full of my artwork, I need to make the most of it whilst I can, before he grows up and realises he can make his own decisions!
I don't just draw things in bright colours. I also do portraits of houses and botanical illustrations, have a look at Lucie Cooke Illustration. Or if you would like a peek into my freelance designer life and my window art, have a look at Lucie Cooke Design.
Phew! Thank you and well done for reading this far!
